A Word About Our Site Search

We have a comprehensive search system built into this website. Some articles have many pages, such as our Scottish Clans section, which has 130. If, for example, you are looking for your own family name, our search facility can save you sifting through many articles. You may also use the site search to find any article or content you wish.

Follow The Breadcrumbs!

The best way to go back a page, or to go to the head section is to follow the breadcrumb trail at the top of each page. The name of the page you are on will be grey, and all other pages will be linked. You may click any of these links. The breadcrumb trail is illustrated below.

Navigating Through Scottishweb

Finding your way through Scottishweb is easy. Along the top of every page is the sitewide menu containing static pages such as our Home Page link, Scotland Resources section.

Down the right-hand side are the menu's you are most likely to use. They are as follows:

Categories

This is the main site menu for viewing our content. Simply click on the category of your choice and the content will be displayed. If a category has a sub-category it will appear when clicked.

Article Options

This handy little menu allows you to perform useful functions when reading an article. They are:

Allows you to email an article to a friend

Add To Favourites
When this link is clicked the article will be added to your favourite article list. Note this is not the same as adding it to your browsers favourites. Once you click "add to favourites" a new menu appears on the right listing your favourite articles. Each time you re-visit Scottishweb this handy menu will be there, making it easy to reach your favourite articles on the site. If you clear out your browsers cookies your list of favourite articles will not be available until you create a new one.

Articles To Read
Similar to the "add to favourites" menu above, this feature is useful if you do not have time to read the full article or feature and wish to come back to it later or on another visit. When clicked a new menu will appear called "Articles To Read". You can then reference your favourite articles at any time.
